Hi All,
Thanks to helpful comments on here I am now in the process of installing my new system.
Head Unit is a JVC KD-R926BT with full Bluetooth audio streaming, built in fone address book and three RCA rear outputs (front, rear and sub). I will keep the Harmon Cardon sub woofer amp and the power amp is replaced by a JVC KS-AX3104, 4 channel power amp which will fit under the sub woofer box in the chassis where the CD changer used to be. So far so good.

Next dumb question.
My Vogue has the AM and FM antenna each side of the rear with separate amps and feeds into the head unit. The FM co-ax cable is a normal antenna plug, the AM is a very thin cable. The JVC (like all after-market units) only has the one standard socket which accepts the FM cable plug.

Has anyone tried joining these feeds into the one?? I know I can do it "mechanically" some nifty soldering and heat shrink tube will sort it but I am ignorant as to the electronic theory.

Cheerz
Richard

AFAIK, 'diversity' antennas require some sort of comparator circuitry to work properly - the two antennas should be identical, and the original HU selects the best signal. Are you sure you have 2 antennas, as only 1 was ever present in the UK/EU spec model, even though the wiring for both exists at the HU?

All I did was plug each one in and see which gave me a signal. Either antenna (if you have both) should be able to receive all bands.

Hiya, As per my main post she's all sorted and working perfectly, you were right I just plugged ij the FM antenna and its works for both AM and FM, There is an AM antenna and amplifier in the right rear but the JVC seems OK with just the FM.
