Hello everyone, thanks to the help so far, the beast passed the M.O.T first time despite my ropey looking welding, so now I'm just tinkering, and wondering, I've got an alternator from my old Capri, I'm pretty sure it's Lucas, and it's only done a few miles, and I seem to remember that it had a 45a output? It has the same connector as the one that is on there now, and would definitely fit the bracket. My question is, does anyone know what output the standard alternator on a 2 1/4 has, and if this one is more powerful does that equals better? I was thinking of fitting spotlights and a stereo.

It might say on the alternator what the output is. I don't know Capris at all...but although it might fit physically mount on the bracket, make sure that the belt aligns correctly...you might need to modify the bracket or use spacers on the bracket to get it 100%.

I went for an 80A Range Rover alternator on mine :)

Okay, it all lines up fine, I'm going to put it on, the label came off at some point, and I can't find it stamped on it anywhere, Going by that Ebay link I'd say it was a 55a.
