Alternative PAS pump fluid ( Cheaper than L/R )

Hi all,,I have a slight power steering pump leak.When it passed its Mot last month...They told me there was slight weep on the power steering pump and put some stuff in the PS reservoir...But I had been topping it up with that expensive L/R power steering fluid before that stuff was added......... Now the question I aint buying no more of that expensive L/R power steering fluid if it starts to leak again...SO what other fluid can I put in the reservoir ie would normal auto box fluid work or what do you use ?? If you have a leaking pump??? Im looking for a cheaper alternative fluid to use.

half a cup of brake fluid may fix the weep for 12 months or so, if the leak is due to a worn seal the brake fluid swells them... works well a lot of the time

you can just add atf dexron 2 or 3

Ok thanks for the reply.Dexion ATF it is then.I think I have some 3 hanging about..And if it does get worse I will try some brake fluid in there...
