Morning chaps.

Long story short, i kept getting the engine management light come up on my dash so i took it to my local LR Specialist.

He said that looking at the faults that came up on his Autologic, it all looked emissions related.

Here is a list of waht came up in the engine section:

P1615 Electric thermostat circuit fault (My guess is probably why she drinks water with no leaks?)

Catalyst system efficiency below threshold bank 1.

Catalyst system efficiency below threshold bank 2.

P0691 Engine cooling fan control fault.

P0137 o2 sensor circuit bank 1 downstream sensor circuit fault.

I bought the new All Comms last week and plugged it up to have a look see. By this time the engine light had come on again so it was a good opportunity to try it out.

It came up with similar faults like the electric theromostat and something about an o2 sensor. I think something else but cant remember.
Anyway icleared the faults and the engine light stayed on. I then went into another sub catorgory that was engine related and clear a fault in there aswell. Still the engine light stayed on.
After going through all the sub catorgories i had a look in engine immobilser section and it said there was 1 fault. That fault was something like "Key 3 resistance increased"??

When i cleared this fault the engine light went off!

That got me scratching my head because the immobiliser has nothing to do with the exhaust system?

Thats when i stared to second guess this LR specialist guy if he was trying to pull a fast one.

I therefore took it down my mates MOT place this morning and it passed an emissions test and the o2 sensor reading was spot on my mate said.

This LR guy said it wouldn't pass an MOT. Well it just did!

He said he could get the cats for around £330 each and i said not to bother because i can get the type approved cats for £240 each online. He then started huffing and puffing saying things like "if you get them you will have to warrenty them and eccept responsibilty if they mess up" which is fair enough i knew that. They came with 2 year warrenty anyway.
He also said (which is what made me think hmm) that if i supply the cats he would have to charge me 1 hour and a half labour to fit each of them, whereas is he supplies the cats from his source, he will only charge me 30 minutes labour to fit them. Couldn't belive he said that and to my face! lol

Anyway the All Comms has just saved me about £900!

Cats are working fine as are the o2 sensors. The computer says no but an MOT emmisions test say yes. :)

A 'good news' story!

I've just done a little searching and can't find any fault-finding software for the p38 yet? Is that true? I used to have an Impreza and there's loads of people with their laptops offering diagnostics (and remaps). If that's true - does that mean all users with on-board computer faults/messages have to go to a LR 'specialist'?
