Alarm system disabling cranking?

the alarm system on my 1993 3.9 efi refuses to function any more and is possibly disabling engine cranking. Central locking also ceased to function last night either from the door locks and buttons or the key fob. The red LED is permanently out too.

The solenoid doesn't click in when the ignition key is turned to "start" but I have checked the ignition switch itself and it is working. Power seems to get to the starter relay but not to the solenoid.

Does anyone know how the alarm disables engine cranking?

And can the alarm system be removed completely?

My workshop manual has no diagram for the alarm itself.

Have a look at the fusible links that are in the loom from the battery positive cable going rearwards to the bulkhead.Unwrap them,they often corrode and fall apart.

After checking all fusible links and fuses I found the central locking fuse (15A) blown - curiously this disables engine cranking. Must be linked with the alarm system etc. I have now wired the engine starter relay coil directly to ground (-ve) so that even if the fuse blows again the engine still cranks.
By doing this I may well have also disabled some parts of the alarm system but since the vehicle is used solely on a farm miles from civilisation I don't need the alarm.
