Hi all,
Does anyone know if its possible to remove the alarm system completely from a Disco1 but still keep the central locking?
My alarm system is playing havoc at the mo and its just not work spending the money on getting it fixed. I'd be happier to remove it but I'd ideally still like the central locking to work.
Any ideas?
Its a 97 300TDi auto and isnt fitted with a spider thingy (if that helps)
Thanks:)

did away with mine....
Butchered the eletronic thing of the back of the pump and wired the stop solinoid to ign.

Bought a central locking kit from fleebay, think it was 20 odd quid, have to wire the drivers door to make it work with the lock/button inside but the othe doors just use the existing orange and pink wires, comes with 2 zappers.

A bit of work but not a dear fix :)

Okay so finally got around to looking at this.
I do have the immobiliser function so clearly, not too simple. I like the idea of getting rid of the ECU altogether and fitting the central locking kit.
Can you fit a direct ignition feed to the starter solenoid to bypass that side of the immobiliser?

:nothingtoadd:I am currently trying to fix many issues with a Discovery alarm/immobiliser. So will report back after tomorrow when I hope I'll have a solution.

it is my understanding that if its an auto with an EDC injection pump (95/6 onwards) then the imobiliser is coded to the injection pump,

its not just a case of supplying 12V to the stop solenoid.

If they are not talking then no fuel is supplied to the injectors even though the stop solenoid has power and is open.

My disco is currently in this state, everything seems to be working, but no fuel from injectors,

it is also my understanding that testbook is the only kit that can re-code the alarm to the pump.

Anyone got a portable testbook near Devizes?

Any confirmation of the above would be welcomed as my disco is dead and i would like to get it working without it having to be recovered to a main stealer and the associated damage to my strethed funds.

Funkykipper, I'm in Wiltshire near Trowbrige if that helps??

The history with mine is that it doesnt have EDC but does/ did have DDS which failed just prior to Xmas. I removed the DDS block from the back of the fuel pump and just put the ignition feed onto the solenoid to get me going. Within a few miles of driving (and not straight away), the interior lights came on (and wont go out) and the horn chirps twice as if a door is open (when its not). I think its the alarm ECU which is bust so I just want rid of the whole system.
Can I disconnect the ECU and just run a feed from the starter relay to the starter solenoid??
