Disco 2 Alarm receiver

Hi and apologies if this has been posted before. Car locks and unlocks on the key fob but I have to put the key hard up against the window or jam it into the door gap to get the receiver to see the signal. I've changed the batteries in both fobs but its still the same. Is the receiver at fault? It did get a bit wet up in the roof lining before I sorted the sunroof out. If I change it will it require syncing to the keys or work from the off.
