alarm locking me out

hi for some time now i have been locking the car using the key and opening it with the fob by pressing lock/unlock. yesterday this did not work. other times it wont let me start the car. i have to walk around the car to find the best spot when unlocking. any one know what to do

Have you been fiddling with it in your pocket? Apparently if the fob button is pressed while out of range, you need to press it three times when back in range to resync the rolling code.

no i havent, but just in case which button do i need to press 3 times

My technical bulletin only refers to the single-button remote, but I'd try the unlock button.

Look I know this sounds daft ok but it works....it was on top gear and worked for one make of lotus...if you point the key fob at your head it increases the signal range. i don't know why it works but it does.

I can now open my car from a distance of about 10 yards.
