Hi all,
Firstly thanks for the very helpful advice received on a previous occasion.
I have recently encountered a problem with the tailgate on my 05 plate TD4 Freelander
I can be driving along and then the cab light will come on and the accompanying warning symbol stating door is open. I had previously had a problem with the tailgate window not raising and that has been fixed (so there must be a connection to this new problem.... the chap who fixed the tailgate window is away on hols so I cant call him up for another 10 days...)
I decided to 'temporarily' take off the panel inside tailgate and see if that made any difference. And yes... problem sorted but now I have a panelless tailgate door.
Today . my wife tells me a car alarm is going off outside and yep.. its my motor....so, for now, I have left the car unlocked.
Not an ideal solution but.... what else can I do.
Unless someone can advise what the problem is and I can, with my total lack of car electronics knowledge, somehow fix it myself or at least do a temporary fix.
All the cables inside the tail gate are exposed naturally since I took the panel off so I guess the problem lies there ? Or not ?
Help !
John
p.s. Just been reading other threads and it sounds like the tailgate positioning sensor.. where ever that is.. I will check other threads (which I should have done before...
