LR very recently (and reasonably) replaced MFU behind fuse box - lots of auxiliary electrical equipment working that didn't work before including the courtesy light illumination when unlocking - nice touch.

Went to lock it last night (the second/third time since the MFU was fitted) and the siren beeped loudly once - not done that before and it could be very annoying! Checked all doors- ok. It did lock on fob, and arm alarm. Started and drove fine.

Early this morning, I went to do some inverstigating; siren still beeping when alarming, sometimes twice but would not lock the driver door (sometimes fob will lock other doors). Now the fob locks all the doors, but immediately unlocks them! Still beeps when arming. Still starting and driving.

Key will not unlock the driver's door (and neither does the fob now lock/unlock this door), but the manual driver's 'door' locking tab thing will activate all the central locking as it should, so I'm guessing the central locking is working OK.

I've tried the 3 x press to reset the fob - it justs beeps at me, and then alarms the car, but isn't locking the doors.

Any suggestions? After 2 weeks of ownership, I'm enjoying putting some of the wrongs right, but this will bug the do da out of me...

Think that's it saying the fob battery is low .. or is that when the indicators don't flash for locked? Can't remember but we get all sorts of stuff happens when it's low, CR2032 a couple of quid from corner shop .. ;)

The two beeps from the siren indicates mis-lock, bonnet or door still open or faulty switch usually the one for the bonnet, if the vehicle has been locked all its life via the central locking the the key lock will be seized through lack of use.
"Bounce back" is usally a sign that the master actuator in the drivers door is slightly out of adjustment.

All the pressing of the fob button will soon run down the fobs battery, let it recover and try again and as Paul said get a decent replacement.

Thanks fellas

The two beeps from the siren indicates mis-lock

I did wonder if it was this. I didn't open the bonnet yesterday but my partner did open the sunroof just prior to disembarkation - we were showing off to some mates - there, that's where bragging get ya :)

if the vehicle has been locked all its life via the central locking the the key lock will be seized through lack of use

It was happily locking and unlocking on the key, and the fob until yesterday.

get a decent (battery) replacement

Brand new last week...

SO, it seems I have a mislock (two beeps) - any one point me in the direction of the bonnet switch please?

Having left it all day, the 'manual' central locking from the door will not now lock - so I can't lock the car at all whether in it or out of it - manual, key or fob - aaaaagh.

I should add the day before I drove through some wicked weather, lots of rain, and deep lakeland puddles which I traversed with ease (it was great!) but I rather fancy I may have 'wet' something - any ideas?

Thank you for your help - much needed as this car is completely new to me.

apologies, I'm not good at this...

can you be more specific - is it 'connector block' I need to pull apart - what coloured wires?

Nearside - on top of front 'edge' where the lock/locate is (the round hole) or tucked underneath this? Is it blinking obvious and I'm missing a trick?

I'm just unsure what I'm looking for.. but I'd like to resolve it even though it is tipping down outside - I'd like to use the disco for a trip to Manchester tomorrow but not keen if I can't lock it.

Just unclip the plug & socket and pull apart.

thanks for the great picture- really helpful :).
Disconnected but still did the 2 beebs after the first go.
Then it did what it should - locked and alarmed 'properly' on the second go.
Now it's back to the same old (bounce back).

I can lock all the doors from the window switch in the door when sat inside (but I've still got bounce back when locking on the fob) and the key in the driver door does nothing - however, it did work before all this becuase I had to leave my dog in the car and I needed to disarm the volumetric.

However, I can lock the doors from the driver's window switch, get out the driver's door, lock the driver's door and then arm alarm as normal, and it all stays alarmed etc. but that's a bit of a faff to say the least.

Am I looking at an electrical ecu problem? If the doors will lock from the window switch, will the actuator be faulty as suggested earlier?
Could the LR garage have disturbed something when they fitted the new MFU behind the driver side (UNDER THE KNEE BOLSTER) fusebox? I've only had this prOblem since they did this.
Thank you for your help,

The only item to disturbed in that area is the fuse box, you could check the fuses related to the alarm/centrol locking ecu.
There's no suggestion the master acuator is faulty, only it may require adjustment on it's mounting plate just 4 screws to slacken and 1 or 2 milimeter one way or the other while testing wirh the fob is all that's required.
