I changed the condenser on mine last week (99/00 petrol 4.0).

The last owner removed it and the fans (which I still don't have....) for some reason or other.

Anyhoo, I simply unbolted the panel between the headlamps, removed the grille and dropped the new part in place, 2x new bolts and cleaned up the pipe connections.

Job done in 20 minutes

Clearly there is no condenser in place in the photo, I am just showing how simple it all was...

Think you should have found there are four bolts attaching condenser two at top and two at the bottom that you need a 3/8" long extension through the bumper vents to tighten up.

On mine, there are two locating dowels at the bottom and the two bolts at the top. It's entirely possible there are "meant" to be bolts down the bottom, but no doubt they were removed along with the condenser & fans....I have some idea that they are currently cooling a cow shed :D

Mine was the same. 2 bolts at top with dowels at the bottom. Got a vague memory of 2 further bolts going through it somewhere else though. It was the same as RAVE anyway.

How will I be able to differentiate the loose condenser from all the "other" rattles?

:p:D

It'll be like the Wacky Races and you'll be left in a pile of parts holding a steering wheel.

Ha ha ha, I remember that, brilliant cartoon :D

Anyhoo, gave up trying to trace the original cooling fans, so bought a set on ebay for about 28 quid delivered.

Cant wait to get everything working again, and when it's sunny up here I need the cooling. It happens so little it's like an atomic bomb going off o_O:D:p and we all fry
