Hi, at my 2002 L322 I have the problem, that after about half an hour of driving there is no more air coming out of the air vents. After disactivating the a/c for about 5min everything is fine for the next 20min...
I own the car for 8 years and in the first years I hadn´t this problem. Obviously the evaporator is freezing.
Had anyone the same problem and solved it?

Best regards
Markus

Are the drain pipes that come out under the car blocked, or put it another way do you get a pool of water under the car when the ac is on.

yeah, the drains are perfect. The car produces unbelievable amounts of water...

Do you have the system on fresh air? It has to work a lot harder cooling hot air from outside than it does if the system is set to recirculation. Only thing likely to freeze up is the expansion valve.

normally I´ve the system on fresh air...but I´ll try how it works on recirculation...

That's were you are getting the water from you say you have lots of. If the ambient external temp is 75 degrees with high humidity the aircon is working it's balls off to provide you with cool air. Your aircon is attempting to cool the planet.

It only cools as much air as is needed to maintain cabin temperature.

On recirculation it only cools the air in the cabin. On fresh air it has to cool all the air coming in, which is then vented out of the flaps in the boot lid. It works a lot harder on fresh air than it does on recirculation. Just as a lot more engine heat is removed using fresh air heating than is removed using recirculative heating. It's not rocket science. If all else fails maybe the evaporator temp sensor is failing.
