My P38 is on springs just wonder peoples opinion on changing it back to air and how involved it would be as far,as i can tell everything is still fitted ie,pump and valve block etc only missing the bags, would the shocks have to be changed to softer ones also to allow for the airbag movment?

it depends on what shocks are fitted as to weather or not you have to change them, its just not a p38 if its not on air. get it put back and enjoy the ride, others will disagree but some people you just cant help.

never heard of anyone changing back to air from spring! you could possibly test the air pump and valve block first cos its expensive 'just to see if it works!'

I would suspect that it was converted to coils in the first place because there was a major problem - compressor / valve block etc. Both of these are expensive items and you would do well to check all components first

Compressor/valve blocks available on Ebay for around £150:D Overhaul kits for much less:D:D:D

if your not bothered about the ride quality i would leave well alone then you will not have all the probs you can get with the air sus, imho that is.:D:D

ran the pump up on the bench with pressure gauge on it has 130 psi output, not knowing the specs of the pump need to know if this is within tolerance not to sure how to test the valve block is there any hardware that can be bought or borrowed to test this?

i'm not sure if you can test the block without the springs but with the software and cable you can run the pump and inflate individual air bags, maybe see if air comes out of the relevant hole/pipe?

even fit a guage on it over night see if they leak???

whilst its off the car it may be worth overhauling it if you intend to go back to air!
