First things first..The system is self adjusting i.e. it automaticly senses the load in the vehicle and the height it should be at. This is done via the ride height sensors. You have no control over this, it all controlled for you. You can raise and lower the height from the dash for offroad use ( later). It is apparant you have no understanding of the system or its functions and its a bit long to explain in one post. Two options. Obtain a owners handbook and read the relevant chapters. Option 2 is to PM me with your address. I have the handbook in English, I will send you a photocopy. There is a third option, and I am sure this will get shouted at you USE A SEARCH!!!. Apart from that welcome. You never know if your nearby I may even come and show you, but on the other hand if you can afford LANDROVER spain your probably too posh for me.

hi there no i cant afford land rover spain its under waranty as its never seemed to work,as for being posh you must be joking gezar.its a serious question i have a workshop manual and have friends with r/r and all say different things like it knows your getting out the boot thats why it goes down .all i want to know is when i collect it and give it a good jump up and down on the rear step it wont go down on that side anymore.ive read and read about air suspension and there is just so much about it.thanks again andy

Are you saying that one side goes rigid?

If so that would probably be a height sensor failed, so the system thinks it is still low on that side, so keeps trying to pump it up.

If this is the case i would not drive it until fixed, because if the compressor keeps trying to pump up a full air bag, there is a danger it will burst!

You should have no probs if L/R are fitting it. They should connect it to Testbook & set it back to the factory settings.

However, if you've ever changed puncture, you could do it yourself, just do a search for airbag replacement.
It's dead easy & the BCU generally remembers the previous settings - so no need for Testbook, Nanocom or Hawkeye generally.:)

I think that's what you are talking about(copy from RAVE) >
Normal ride height
When the vehicle is stationary, a door is open and the ignition is off, the SLS system will allow the rear of the vehicle to lower to within 20 mm of the normal ride height as load is removed from the vehicle. The SLS system will only operate the compressor to raise the rear of the vehicle when the engine is running, unless requested using the remote handset.

If u meant Range Rover with r/r dont bother with that...the range's EAS is quite different than the disco's SLS

By the way, it's not so much to read, operation of SLS is described in RAVE on 2 pages;)

hi guys
thanks for your help,i would like to try and have faith in land rover spain but this is the second time its been in because it was dropping on one side down to the bump stops when parked up,they told the garage where a got it from that there were lots of old faults stored in the computer so they cleared them put a new level sensor on that side but it still did the same thing.lets hope when i collect it this time it will be ok.cheers andy

Hi Andy, when you say it goes down, do you mean to the floor or just slightly. If slightly refer to previous posts. If to the floor then first things first I am by no means as experienced as some(most) of the guys on here but I have been having probs. with my N/S bag for nearly 12 months.

Went down to stops on a regular basis, just couldn't afford to repair. I changed both bags yesterday and as said by many on here it is a piece of P*ss. Get bags from Paddocks and save youself some money. By the way if your bags haven't been changed before then they are well over due anyway and at least you will see if there is a problem with the sensors.

Good luck

Rob

hi rob
good to hear from you it sounds like yours has been doing the same as mine,i would do it my self but ive only just got the car and its down to the dealer i must say it does look very easy to do.i use paddocks for all my parts as they are so cheap and there delevery to spain is excellent normally here within the week even large bits like exhusts cant complain in being charge 20pounds to get bits here, expecialy when parts are about 3 or 4 times the price here on most car parts.thanks again andy
