Strange issue for me this one.
I decided to install a pipe from air box to flexi pipe coming out of the inner wing on my 1.8 Freelander 1 as it was awol and due to some fording and puddle chasing my airbox was getting water in and also the air going in was from directly behind the radiator meaning hot not cold air in so changes afoot.
I connected pipes together and it almost stalled the engine.
test drive was worse as though the engine was starved of air.
removed the joint pipe and no issue.
stripped out the inner wing etc and removed a black box from behind the bumper which the flexi rubber pipe ran to thinking it may be clogged but upon inspection it was in fact AIR TIGHT no inlet no blockage just air tight.taped the airline in to it and it expanded the black box but no air came out.
Not to be beaten I simply modified the air box pipe to extend up to just below the bonnet ready to install my snorkel kit I am building so short term it's kind orlf rectified.
Big question remains.....what's the bloody point in the black box in the inner win?
I read on here it was the cold air feed But is it?
Thanks.
