Right I had enough of no LPG and there was also a slight air leak (AGAIN...) so I got in about and nailed it.

I knew I'd disturbed something last time I had removed the inlet manifold, but had to wait for the new gasket before I took it apart again. Britpart gasket wasn't keen to go on as the two holes that fit over the locating collars were too small. I used 400 grit sand paper rolled round a screwdriver and filed them out...

Anyway, while I was in there, I checked the wiring and it all looked fine, so I unwrapped some tape and found the likely cause of my LPG non running. Some utter womble had connected two injector positive wires using a scotchlok

Ripped it off, cut the insulation off the end & middle then soldered them together. Sorted that out.

As I was removing stuff, I discovered another pain in the ass had returned (which explained a few things including the car stalling at sons school the other day making it look like I had a clutch & could't work it).

Once again, LR's shit design idiot's work came back to haunt me o_O I mean, who in the world thought to hold two important pipes together with an aluminium wrist watch strap without the watch and a rubber washer??

Anyway, this:

If you who designed this is reading this, I hear self flagellation is a good way of getting rid of the embarrassment of your past o_O

I digress...

Anyway, I knew there was no way on earth I was going to put it back together as designed so I got my gas torch and heated up the area it mates to until it was soft, then poked the pipe end through from the inside until the faces mated.

I clarted (Scottish for smother in...) the mating faces with some superb glue

...and that was it. Job done

Happy days :):)

Ah. Scotchloks. Works of Beelzebub.
Their colour should have told you they probably weren't any good.......

Their colour wasn't obvious under all the black tape o_O

They are handy for a quick fix, but something as important as injectors is a big no no

Well done @Doo !

I feckin hate scotch locks :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: - Love @Ratae 's comment :D

SWMBO's D1 had all the towing 'lectrics done with the little feckers, which I was so happy to find when doing some (more:rolleyes:) welding ... Why TF  would anyone do that - there's a LR kit which just plugs in ....:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Do it nice, or do it twice... is such good advice :)

well done Doo , glad your back up and running ;)

She was running beautifully on petrol....or so I thought, but that stupid pipe must have been leaking which explains a couple of little nuances.

But the LPG has been funny for a long time, the warning lamp lighting up now & then and a distinct lack of full power compared to petrol.

But now you can't tell the difference at speed or climbing over stuff... Which I may have done yesterday :p

Outside our bit there is a steep bank with a stump of a tree sticking out of the ground about 5 inches so you go up the bank heeled over, then mount this and them who don't know any better scream, thinking the car is about to fall over like Luigi in Cars :D

Anyway, I dropped her into Low 1st and trundled up, down, sideways and around, having an absolute hoot. There are tyre marks, but not one single spin mark or lumps of mud over the bodywork. Not a hint of a stall or a pop from the exhaust. Got a long run tomorrow, getting beige (cream, not sure but it's a beautiful colour) interior for George, complete with tv screens in the head rests, heated memory seats and all the interior plastics too

I'll spend some time getting my friend with the Rolls Royces to help me bring the leather back to life and replacing the heating elements before installing everything.

I have a hi line BECM so I'll make arrangements to "instruct" it to accept the seats. I also asked him for the HEVAC controller as I don't have the buttons for the seats in mine.

All in all, I'm finally having some excitement with my car :)

The colour of the seats is lightstone, best colour out:D makes the interior very light and airy and makes it look so big inside, good luck with the refit:)

The tow electrics on my project P38 were fitted by a Land Rover dealer, the little trailer light on the dash didn't work, so I went looking and found that the trailer wiring had been Scotchlocked onto the light cluster wiring instead of using the correct trailer wiring connector.

Probably the same dealer :D  :eek:o_O

I don't go to dealerships for just those reasons. If they can cut corners they will... It's a wonder they don't have round feckin buildings
