Air Flow Meter Help

Hi,
Not really that techy but am looking for help. I have come into possession of a Land Rover Defender (don't ask how!) that has a 3.5v8 efi classic engine fitted to it.
The fact is the air flow meter needs replacing and given the cost of a new one (£600 and upwards) I am looking for alternate solutions - the actual part is a Lucas 2AM air flow meter 73243A.
All suggestions and advice gratefully received.

Surf for RRC breakers or Ebay. The last AFM I bought cost 30 quid (for a 3.5efi) & served me well.
