I have gone through all the crappy stone bits that came with mine and looking for new ones. Given that I want to dress back welds or metal of any description, can anyone recommend replacements?? They all seem to be carbide metal burrs on Amazon or ebay, but do these do the job on metal or just for wood etc?

carbide burr bits work wonderful for dressing welds.
Make sure you get the right 1's. some carbide are for non ferrous metals, wood, and plastic counter stuff. any with this cutting pattern are nice.

another vote for carbide burrs but make sure you have eye protection, shards of metal fly everywhere
+1 safety glasses with a full face shield. Also those shavings will get into all your clothes, and places you don't want them, foam ear plugs will keep the stuff out of your ears. and then down your shoes check your sockets for metal bits. Also get a magnifying glass and tweezers as you will get metal slivers. Just a matter of when

Don't mention new tools while swmbo is around, was told to get rid of some of mine in the garage the other day, WHAT!!!!! cut my bloody arms off why don't you, didn't tell her about the new ones in the car or the new arc welder on the back seat ha ha
