Air con - stuck on?!

2002 (51 reg) 1.8 GS - we have found that the air con seems to be on, whether the button is pushed and light is on or button is depressed and light is off. Any idea's? When I am at standstill with the engine on and hit the button on the revs remain constant and no dip is seen as you would expect. The air coming out is cold enough to say that the air con is on.

check relay hasnt stuck, and also remove wires from back of switch, to see which is defective! or you could just

He he - I am tempted! Where is the relay for it? I will pull the switch out later tonight and see if it is that - a real pain!

Or check that the switch isn't on windscreen position - a/c runs continuosly when in that position and fan on.
By the way, putting a/c on doesn't make a noticable drop in engine revs on my TD4.

Could be yer air con compressor clutch jammed in , if the relay trick dunt werk then check that. . . . .i remember also that on certain year gaylanders that one position of the flapper control brings in air con [fer de-misting] but carn't remember eggsact position . . . . . . .see i niffer sid burn it. . . . . . . . . . . . .Butt this mite elp. . . . . . .
