hello , ive got a 96 disco es with air con that doesnt work
when i switch the a/c button the fans run but the pulley doesnt click in or go around , is there anything for me to check before it costs me to fix, thanks.

Hi i believe there is a fuse for the air con system, it's either in the main box under steering wheel or in engine bay box.

I would also give the pulley (which acts as a type of clutch) a big spray of WD-40 or CRC. Leave it overnight dripping in the stuff.

Hows your DIY skills? dont know too much about how they work but may not be too much of a mission to pull the pulley off and pull the thing to bits? may have siezed insided. I would imagine some sort of electronic solenoid would be inside to engaged/disengage.

"if it dont work - pull it to bits and put it back together again"

good onya :)

- I always take heaps of photo's when pulling things to bits helps you when you put it back together:)

it's wierd how you always end up with bits left over ;)

Good Luck.

the air con clutch is electricaly operated usually via the low pressure switch. you can test the operation of the unit by disconnecting the clutch wire and putting 12volt to it. if the unit operates this way you most likly have one of two problems.
1 low pressure switch U/S
2 low gas pressure. you will need to take to a specialist to confirm and repair this.

ill try this but which wire do i connect the 12 v feed , i think theres two wires on top (is this the unit on top of the engine you have to remove to get at the 4th glowplug)
