Hi
To cut a long story short had my 1999 disco air con checked out and the system was over pressurising and had to be switched off to protect it from damage (18bar). At least I know system will hold a pressure. Have been told that a blockage in system at fault, most probably expansion valve on evaporator. Anybody got any info or experience of this sort of problem. Also is this valve /evaporator easy to get at. Knowing my luck, not very likely. Have been told that most likely the entire dash has to come out. Only got the thing back together having sorted out the sunroof leaks. Oh well, stop me getting bored.Cheers Steve

Are the condensor fans working, them just in behind grill at front, if not working the system can develop too much head pressure similar to what yours is experiencing. Not the only reason mind you, but may be the first thing to check and very cheap to rectify.
