Hello people,
Just fitted an air con drive belt after spending ages trying to find the correct one as my compressor has a bigger pulley than normal. Took the mrs for a spin to show her how 'cool' our disco is and the ac button doesn't do anything! I can hear the compressor with the bonnet shut but it doesn't sound as if something is wrong.

Is the compressor knackered?

Or do i need a 'kwik fit style' air con re-charge?

With the engine running get someone to switch on the A/C bearing in mind that a fan speed needs to be selected. Check that the clutch engages on the compressor.

It's easy to mistake the compressor turning when in reality it's not, if all is OK there then check the electric fan/s are coming on.

If the compressor is turning and the fans are coming on then it's possible a regas will sort it.

I do not know a lot about A/C but I do know if you do not use it once in awhile (including winter) the seals in the compressor dry up and leak the gas out.

Hope that helps, no doubt others will chip in with more knowledge.

regards

Dave
