Ok i need to get around to sorting my air con, i think when i bought it he said it may need a new condenser , how would i know ? /can test ? and generaly diagnose whats needed, what am i looking at if it is a new condenser price wise ?

appriciate any help and the best way to tackle this ! , im hoping its just a re gas needed ?

Firstly check it has an air con belt being a diesel.... The tension pulleys on the aircon belt are naff and they end up being eaten by the viscous.

ok thanks guys, i dont have a clue about air con issues

where would the belt be and how do i check it aero and what do i check for ?

il give kwikfit a call then, although ive alwys thought them expensive whenevr ive enquired for things in the past ?

They are but I'm sure they be able to do a simple job like that around £50
Your belt is the short one comming of the crankshaft check it has tension.

Kwik fit will vacuum test before they fill it with gas, if it fails that they don't charge, I think they can leak test with dye too

ok thanks

i need to ring them up and enquire then , see if i can get a free test , would they tell me if i need a new condenser or anything else and know where the fault lay ? of course if its more than just a re gas needed

ok thanks

If they do the dye leak test it should be pretty obvious as your have red dye squirting out;)

Doubtful they could diagnose the HEVAC - they are only just about bright enought to change a wheel, even then keep a close eye on them..!!!

They will do a vac test which will tell if the system is leak free - a dye test may also be done....if it needs more than a regas - Kwik Fit won't have a clue - i.e. could be the dual pressure switch, block expansion valve, blocked dryer, knackered compressor etc etc etc - Kwik Fit won't have a clue on that stuff!!

True but if you can get a free leak test and dye run through why go pay for some one to do the same thing for leaks .

Start with the basics leak test belt on,working ect you can't test the rest until you have a leak free full with gas system anyways .

ok thanks guy, i need to get this done, i dont particularly fancy trying myself if im honest, il go quick fit and get a quick test just on the offchance it just needs a gas , if not then its further investigation...

what i really could do with finding, is a p38 friendly zoner whos local who wants to earn some cash doing some jobs for me, this/possibly condenser, heated seat repair etc

anyone here able and willing or know anyone who might ? inchichester-portsmouth sort of area ?

While we are on the subject has any one adjusted the air con belt. The reason I ask it that rave says there is an adjuster on the air con motor.i have taken my belt of as there is no gas in the system, as its been disconnected at an early date. Now to the point I have no ajuster on my motor pulley there is a centre bolt that holds the pulley on to the air con motor the pulley has splines that locate on the motors shaft there is no ajuster ?? Is, are there different types or air con motors ?? So I have a belt that runs off the crank pulley direct to the motor pulley with no adjustment what so ever really confused as rave says there is an ajuster hope I'm making sense any idears please????

There is no adjuster on the compressor. Remove the plastic cap from the tensioner. You adjust it by turning the tensioner idler with a 13mm spanner then nipping up the allen bolt. If you have a doozel that is.

Ok only popped my head under to cut it off at the time, don't remember seeing idler need to take another look thanks W

why does the dozel have a belt and the petrol doesn't?

BTW, got mine regassed recently and the guy said that if he hadn't done a dye test, he'd have sworn it had a leak - it took a huge amount of gas!

The amount of gas required is stamped on the lable on the slam plate, it's not just a matter of stuffing as much in as possible, the tech is supposed to set the required amount on the machine. If the wrong amount is in there, expect trouble:eek:

The V8 uses the same serpentine belt for everything, the diesel has a separate air con belt.
