Had a look around for a clutch puller (preferably for hire). Can't find any hire options in Australia?! There are a number of kits on ebay and aliexpress but hard to be sure if they will do the job? Hoping I can just gradually and carefully knock the pulley off (hammer and piece of wood). Should have some free money soon to place the order! Company called "Nathanmotor" - bit of a risk? No other options really apart from buying a new compresor (heard the Sanden compressors are junk and Denso are far superior).
 
Without having tried it I have no idea, but is it not possible to get two prybars, or big screwdrivers under the clutch at opposite sides to then pry it off evenly? Much as one used to bea able to do with crankshaft pulleys?

A/C perfect!!! Went to KSR Auto Air (here in Bayswater, Melbourne, Australia) and saw Keith - so, so many glowing Google reviews, and a perfect 5-star rating - never seen anything like it (have a squiz at the feedback); also very highly recommended by several L/R owners. Couldn't be happier with the outcome!!! One of the clutch plates had to be re-machined - everything else was good thank God apart from the coil that was a bit burnt-up, so he replaced that and he also re-gassed the system, all for a very modest price! Interestingly, Keith said the a/c clutch was likely originally burnt out as the previous service guy overcharged the gas!!! Makes sense - gas pressure too high caused the clutch to burn (clutch couldn't turn the over-pressured pistons in the a/c compressor)?

Interestingly, after the clutch, pulley and coil were all sorted, the previous rattle I had disappeared! (must have been a slight misalignment that caused (sympathetic) vibration?

Keith said the Denso compressors are very rugged and should last forever - he said that getting a pulley can be a real problem (I noticed) - hence the friction surface had to be re-machined. [The a/c originally failed due to a burnt out clutch about a week after the previous arseclown re-gassed it; he said it had nothing to do with him!!!]

Actually doesnt make too much sense to me cos the compressor is protected against too high pressure, first the dual pressure switch must disengage the clutch if the pressure exceeds the safe limit(that's why it's "dual", it opens at too high and too low pressure) but if that fails there is a mechanical overpressure valve on the compressor too.
