Hi guys, Hope all is well with everyone.

Now the sun is out used my aircon for the first time at the weekend and got a massive squeal when I turned it on and put my foot down - I assume the Air Con belt has gone - how much is a new one?!

Also, I have the Harman Kardon system - if I wanted to replace the factory headunit would I still be able to use HK amp and get the same juicy sound?!?! Is it a standard plug behind there?!?

Help appreciated as always chaps!!

Hi Miles,

Can't help with the belt - hope you get it sorted soon!

I'm just about to do exactly the same sort of audio upgrade to my 2001 Harmon Kardon equiped DHSE. The previous owner put in a Sony head unit that I hate! I am planning to use an ipod ready Pioneer head unit (not sure which one yet, but looking at a DEH-P55BT because I can make the display green to match the other displays and it has Bluetooth hands free).

Next, I'm planning to use adapter leads from Nexxia which will allow me to connect to the HK amp, and use the steering wheel remote controls.

Downside of the head unit I'm looking at is it only has 2 output channels which means I can drive front & rear and no subwoffer, or combine front & rear and drive subwoffer (which would mean no fader controls). There may be some other way to get 3 pre-amp channels out, but I'll need to buy the unit and try it out.

So, I'm full of plans and ideas, but have not done it yet! If you get to it before me, let me know how you get on!

Hi Miles, I changed all the belts on my P38 a short while ago, total cost at Partco was less than £15. The job took me about 2 hours though as you have to remove the radiator cowl etc, but this is all documented in the RR manual on CD-ROM. Hope this helps.

Cheers guys, going to get both done this weekend! My local audio place is sorting leads to make sure I do not lose the HK effect!!

Miles, please let us know how you get on with the audio side of things. I would like to change the head unit on my P38 to something possibly with iPod cababilities and maybe the bluetooth handsfree setup as well. Would be good to know how it all pans out for you :)

I've seen subwoofers connected to the rear output. That way you have fader control. The subwoofer would "dim" when you shift the sound to the front, but ...

On the subject of Radios. I've just bought a P38 , radio head unit is Kenwwod but system and CD changer seem to be HK.

Thing is the radio reception is not too clever, is there a known fault between unit and arial (wherever the arial is)?

If there is , is it possible to by pass that and use another form of arial?

Cheers
