Hi all, hoping someone has the answer or at least where i should be looking. I noticed that my air compressor has stopped working.. tried the raise button and nothing, does not revel, just dead.

I have checked the fuses all good, swapped the celanoide with identical one next to it and still nothing

any advice would be good

Remove the compressor relay R5 and make a bridge with a wire across the perpendicular cavities in the fusebox, that's only for 1-2 seconds to test the circuit so if you hear the compressor then remove the bridge and put the relay back. You said you checked the fuses but the compressor has fusible link for feed FL9 not a fuse so check that also make sure that all the doors/taildoor are well closed cos te compressor doesnt run without all doors closed input

if you can't hear the compressor with the bridge we'll speak again

Thanks for the reply.. will try the bridge check shortly.. where will I find the disable link to check it as suggested

OK I bridged the 2 perpendicular connectors as instructed and nothing! guessing this indicates a problem with the motor itself?

I now know its not the compressor motor as it is running.. I had the compessor off today and refurbed using one of those kits which i just happen to have.. so it has new piston ring, "O" ring etc and new airfilter medium.. the pump is running but still the suspension is not raising up. will it be the valve block, but confused why they would both go together? or is it that round block behind the compressor which i guess is a non return valve of some sort. any clues where to check next would be great

just realised that the valve block although has 2 electrical inputs they are linked so guess it can go and affect both sides.. any help greatly appreciated

yes the compressor is running but the bags do not inflate any, just to clarify both bags are only 6 months old and the landy is not on its bump stops, it is however low and needs to raise, slao will not raise when using the dash button

It seems that the exhasust valve or the mechanical pressure limiting valve of the compressor is stuck open, unless the signal to the air supply valves is missing and they are closed, undo the compressor's feed pipe which is connected to the middle of the valve block(13), start it and put your finger on the pipe's end, if you can stop the air with your finger one of those valves( 6 or 9) is stuck open , if you can't stop the air and there is good pressure we'll speak again, here's the compressor component's layout:

ok so I have done as instructed (at least I think so.. would connection 13 on the diagram be correct. if so i undid this nothing happened, strted the landy (all doors shut) and air leaked from valve block connector and both sides dropped to the bump stops, then there was nothing from the pipe or valve block connector. confirm again that the pump is running.

Then the compressor is fubar cos it looses the pressure through one of those valves, the fact that the rear dropped to the bumps with that pipe undone when the compressor started shows that the air supply valves are wortking as they opened to let air into the bags just that the pressure is missing, you can buy two schradervalves like these https://www.ebay.com/itm/P38-RANGE-...Y-INFLATION-VALVES-BREAKDOWN-4mm/263100326663 fit 10cm of pipe to them and push them into the bags instead of the vehicle's pipes then you can inflate the bags with tyre inflator and drive it many days untill you fix it (provided the bags are not leaking)

I am with you, the valves have opened as they should but with lack of pressure from the compressor instead of pumping the bags up it let the air out.
Thank you for all the help I will order a replacement

I was just thinking (dangerous i know) but when i did the compressor refurb one think the instructions tell you to check is the one way valve on top of the piston head (this was fine) however surly there must be an opposite one way valve in the air filter head that closed as the piston head one opens.. it did not metion checking this.. could it be this valve (if it exists) stuck open? could be a easy fix if yes

No such thing but as i said the exhaust or pressure limiting valve can be stuck open and both are upstream the compressor so it can pump out the air through one of them while the existing air stays in the bags when the air supply valves open cos there's a one way valve on the feed port
