hey all, been thinking about gettin rid of my air bags and replacing them with the conversion kit from paddocks, just thinking about my wallet thats all as i dont want to be forking out for new bags, height sensors, compressor etc. done a bit of research and dosnt look to big of a job, im going to be removing everything. i suspect that im gunna get a warning light appear on my dash but garage next door to mine said he should be able to turn it off. will the landy be ok to drive till he turns light off?, also i will be selling all bits i take off and there all in good working order

thanks

I converted my 2001 Td5 last January - the airbags started to go down randomly and often and didn't want to be spending too much on it .
I left everything in place so it could easily be changed back again .
Easy to do - as you say the light on the dash will remain on but the really annoying bit was the chime which began once you passed 20 mph .
I had no way of turning off the light and silencing the chime - so I cut one of the wires feeding the little speaker in the dash and that quietened it :D.
Have had no problems since - just freedom from the worry of when will they go down again .:)

then why do u wan a destroy the beatyfull enhacement named SLS mate.....this is one of the Disco 2-s amenities:).......IMHO if u want a Disco 2 without SLS and ACE and a silent engine then u better take a Disco 1:D....no offence for D1 owners it's a great motor aswell.....this is the oppinion of one of the biggest hunnish Land Rover lovers:)

because i looked through history i got with it and in 3 years its had 2 compressors, new bags, height sensors and a bill of a £1000. im a mechanic anyway so labour charge is a no no unless it needs plugin in. i love the disco 2 but id prefer it with springs coz lets face it there maintenance free really. I like to change things before they break as prevention is cheaper than the cure. Plus my mrs drives it and last thing i want is her ringing me up " the fooking landys on its arse, fix it! "

replaced my airbags last week, nice blue springs on there now, yellow light only comes on occasionally.goes out when engine is restarted.i left sensors in place just disconnected power to compressor.seems to drive ok.

no not yet, only person i know that can disable sls is 2hrs drive away. i'll leave it as is for the moment. might remove compressor when i get time as cover has gone walkies.chatting my mate this evening he told me his 04 disco started to gyrate from side to side at 40mph resulting in vehicle write off in ditch. has been a few of those in last few years.ace or sls to blame? nobody knows.
