anyone know how or if the front airbag can be turned off , its on a 55reg
If your getting warning SRS light on the dash then you must be due for a replacement. Anything after late 2002 has a long shelf life of 15 years. Do not play with it or even replace this yourself as you may get harmed. You can order a replacement still and ask proper garage to replace the old one.

yes sorry gents for the kids to sit in , there at the age where the bag needs to turned off .
What age child?

The only reason the airbag needs to be turned off, is if a rearward facing baby seat is installed. If you need to use a 0 to 15 months seat IIRC, then unfortunately in the FL1, it'll need to go in the back.

Children up to the age of 3 "may" travel in the front seat, in a suitable child seat, but only if there's insufficient room in the back for them. In this case the airbag would be left on.

Any child between the age of 3 and 12 or under 135cm tall can't travel in the front seat anyway.

I have always thought that - I wish a lot of the parents at our school thought that too, especially with how they drive.
Ours sits in the back all the time. Various teddies get the spare seats!

its the only option we have 3 kids now the others 2 are to young to sit in the front and all baby seats will not fit in the back .

If you have a baby up to 15 months, which needs to go in the front, then you're only option is to get vehicle where the passenger airbag can be turned off. Unfortunately the Freelander 1 doesn't have the option to turn that airbag off.

Bit drastic, but swap it for 1 of the F1s without the passenger side airbag. Pretty sure you could get them with a grab handle and no air bag.

You could on the very early FL1, but the dash on those is completely different to the Facelift dash.;)
