Probly an L-series doozul, dunt know too much about them but other peeps will give you the lowdown no doubt, if poss check service history
......oh an tell him dunt git it wet or muddy or the doors will fall orft..:D:D

T reg would be the Rover L series diesel, a bombproof lump with a good reputation for reliability, 97bhp and mid thirties fuel consumption. Regular caravan pulleys prefer the later BMW TD4 engine that was introduced in 2000, with the auto being a popular option. The later engine is cracking, and the reassurance that early transmission problems were pretty much sorted out by then, make them a good choice on valance, but less of a bargain.

A thorough inspection is definately required prior to purchase. A cautious buyer can find some cracking low mileage examples at a great price.

Cheers

Tell your mate the L-series has got a cambelt which as with all cambelts needs changed regularly - not the cheapest job but diy possible if your good with spanners. Otherwise an excellent choice & with only 85k on the clock many more miles left.
