Hi guys,

I have just climbed up here from the RR section below :D looking for a bit of help/advice. A guy I work with is looking to take the plunge into Landy ownership  and wants to know what to look out for. He has seen a '95 Disco 1, 3.9 ES 7 seat with LPG conversion for sale locally. What should he be looking for in terms of known problems and anything that he should listen for etc on a test drive. We all know how expensive a "wrong 'un" can be, so don't want him put off by a bad experience.

There may be a small issue with Rust. Just check all footwells and boot and well in fact all over for rust...........Idont think theres too much rust issues with the tyres but I should check just in case

Same as a RRC really mate, boot floor, sills, footwells and the bit by the rear door locks are the places to look.

sorry cant tell you anymore, i'm not too hot on the v8's, tdi man myself but i should imagine all the normal points hold true etc

look under the rear arches for corrosion near the seat belt mounts, i would class mine as a tidy one and am putting 2 new sills, boot floor innit, as regards a v8 then check all the electrics, corroded wiring can give yer a hell of a lot of jip further down the line, check for smooth changes from petrol to gas, any backfiring under load and missing could mean alot of tweaking of a fair size bill from a gas specialist, check the gas tank is under ten years old as they are sopposed to be changed, other than that its the usual nachanical bits which yer should pick up on when driving it.

anyone who knows the answer is in for a brucey bonus.............erm...................lubrication of the seal on the discobobulator which leads to the dooberrryfirkin?
