Hi. Thinking about getting rid of my disco 1 and buying a disco 2 td5 in the not to distant future. Want a 7 seat version with a pretty decent spec but would rather have one without the a.c.e system fitted. Can anyone tell me what models were fitted with a.c.e and which ones were not?. Also any rust problems to look for. I know they don't tend to rot out like the disco 1,apart from rear of chassis which I know about.
Cheers
Gary

Hi,

Don't know specifics re the models but the parts to needed to remove ACE and convert cost around the £300 mark, so wouldn't be put off just by having ACE fitted.

OK cool, come across stories of corroded ace pipes being quite common nowadays and replacement pipes costing a fortune so would rather not have it.

Most (including me) replace the system with standard Anti roll bars and drop links, when the pipes rust out. Need to remove the pump and replace with a pulley and also re-program the ECU to remove ACE.

I thought the 7 seater came with ACE as standard? From what I've read on here people in rear seats don't get a great ride without the ACE.

I removed mine some two years ago and never had any complaints regarding the ride I supply:)
Think ACE was an upgrade, don't believe it was standard on all models, even with 7 seats.

My 7 seater has ACE, and it leaked. The original high pressure lines are put in place before the body goes on, so if they need to be replaced that's why it gets expensive. The pipe split on my just as it entered into the valve block

Are you sure you are not confusing ACE (Advanced Cornering Enhancement) with the rear air suspension SLS (Self Levelling Suspension)?

7 seaters usually came with SLS as it's all about compensating for weight at the back-end of the car.

Both systems are good when working correctly but can easily and cheaply be replaced with std springs and arb's.

PS. IF you do buy a car with these systems and decide to take them off, there is a ready market for these spare parts, which should yield enough to purchase the replacement std kit.
