Hey folks haven't been on in a while but in need of some help, I recently changed my steering damper to a new britpart cellular dynamic then started experiencing the death wobble Iv changed the track rod ends the bush on the panhard rod and all bearings are fine. I dropped one end of the damper earlier and noticed that it's really smooth to compress but when it comes to extending it it's a right struggle to get back into position is the damper kaput or is this normal?? Any help welcome.

Sounds shagged. I had a britpart one, fitted it and the bushes cracked before being driven.

Got one myself waiting to be sent back (when I can be bothered boxing it up!) for the same reason. Car was pulling to the left - replaced for an OEM unit and found an immediate improvement.

I was told by island 4x4 where I bought it that the bp cellular dampers exadurate any little issue?! Not sure how true this is.

Got britpart cellular dampers all round which work great - just the steering damper that seems goosed.

Have you checked your swivel ball preload? There's plenty of info on here about them. They can cause "death wobble" symptons if the preload isn't high enough.

I used to work at at a dealers (TMS in Melton) that built Litchfields with TVR and Chevy engines in and we tried several brands of steering damper but the OE damper was the best.

sounds shagged, i was told recently that the gas dampers are great off road but on road they can cause wander and can make death wobble seem worse, i went for britpart a while ago, oil filled, it failed within 6 months of only being driven at weekends got an armstrong one now and it seems to be going well.

Fitting a Britpart steering damper is a self inflicted problem. By the sounds of things though your swivels need setting up.

TMS in Melton, wow not heard it called that for years (tractor motor services)

Steering damper - I bought a britpart dynamics one at the Peterborough show because I was to late to buy a terrafirmer one, same price, fitted it and it feels worse than the old one I took off, thought it was me but by the replys obviously not.

Yes I was there when Marshalls bought it. TMS was Brilliant to work for. We built some interesting Land Rovers, some of the classic RR's were £70k
