I know leaking boots has been covered quite alot, my boot isn't leaking it's the actual hardback,Ive searched about but can't find any info. i've removed it and it's letting water in drivers side close to the roof latch, there is a piece of material in the hardback that's soaking.

Just after some advice, does the hard back come apart and does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Cheers

Dave

Assuming the rubber surround seal is intact

it will be the seams that run from front to back on each side, use some black mastic or black silicone to seal up.

give the seams a bit of a clean up (algae/grimme) before applying a bead of sealant, wipe as much excess away and let cure

The hard top does come apart, but the bond has to be broken, no need to strip down

Thanks for the reply.

So where the three parts are formed (Roof and 2 side windows) you say run black silicone down the join? Any recommendations on the type of silicone/mastic?

Any ideas how much a new one is from LR?

thanks for the advice.

Going to buy some sealant tomorrow, any ideas where i can get that sort of sealant from?

Cheers

Any good hardware store, B&Q

TEC 7 used to called CT 1, it drys a matt finish and so blends in with the hard top, its only a light tack seal, not a full bond thats needed, so any old black silicone will do.
