Have a 2001 Disco 2 TD5. A couple of months ago had a leak in rear ACE pipe so had both replaced. Been fine until the last week. When driving along the road, or sitting idling, there is a thump from under the vehicle. I had a good luck around and found that the two pipes that are the feed and return pipes from the ACE pump at the distrubution block are literly vibrating, and the vibration occurs roughly every 10 seconds or so. On touching these two pipes they are hot to the touch. The pipes leading away to the two ACE rams are cold to the touch.

Has anyone else seen this or has a scooby as to what might be going on?

There are no warning lights on dash. No obvious leaks from the ACE system and the ACE reservoir is 'bubbling away' as if the ACE fluid is being circulated around.

does it make a sound like you are driving over dry twigs or branches when it happens?

No, it does not. It just makes a sort of thumping come buzzing noise every 5 - 10 seconds continously.

Plugged it into diagnostics and traced live data from ACE sensors. The pressure transducer shows a reading that goes up and down all over the place and then peaks at 40 bar for a split second at which time the pressure control valve buzzes in response. It is this that is being heard. Disconnect the pressure transducer and pressure control valve sits happily. It seems the pressure sensor is faulty and I have a new one on its way. When I get it plugged in will update thread.

LR did a recall on early TD5's to recitfy a major ACE problem. Might be worth having a look to see if it applies to your problem. The recall will be on VOSA's website.

yes what does this dry stick noise mean?

I also hear a sort of thump/clunk, generally when u come off the gas (But not straight away). You can also hear it more than once, with varying amounts of noise. Its been into the garage for a few services over the years and never found anything. Also been through 2 MOTs with me etc and still nothing. I have had it for 1-2 years and still non the wiser to what it is. Doesnt seem to be getting any worse - touch wood. I put it down to play in the 4wd system?

Any one elses input would be good.

Sorry if i seem to be hyjacking thread a bit!!
