Think I've found an easy way to test for wear in the front ARB bushes on an ACE equipped D2.

Been having a strange clonk from the front for some time but been unable to locate the problem.
My ACE packed up today and the clonk disappeared. Once I'd sorted the ACE again the clonk was back. I deliberately then disconnected the ACE to confirm things.

So, I'm reckoning the ARB bushes are shot and the extra loads the ACE ram puts on the bushes causes the clonk.
So that's another job on the list of to do's.

And to prove the point. Changed the front ARB bushes today and all is quiet again front the front end.
Wonder what damn thing has in store for me next to do.

These are just simple maintenance issues mate, don't sweat it. You are dealing with a (probably) 10yr + old car.

If you want to stop having 'problems' maybe you could be a little more pro-active about your car maintenance?

Very opinionated of you mate.
If you read my first post you will see that I am just suggesting an accidentally found method of diagnosing worn ARB bushes on ACE equipped models. There are a number of threads on this and other related sites where others have had the same issue of a clonking from the front end of the D2 and not been able to identify which components were a to blame.
You also assume that I do not maintain my vehicle, you are wrong. It's the fact that I couldn't locate the worn parts to replace them that was bugging me.

I don't agree that was 'opinionated' as you say - I was merely stating that things need replacing, the bushes obviously hadn't been replaced and if pro-active maintenance is applied stuff gets replaced before it fails.
