hi anybody
recently had to abandon my disco 2 td5 due to ace warning light showing.AA recovered vehicle to a garage and was informed that rear pipes badly corroded and leaking.Quoted 1500 to replace all pipes.I have located a full set for 180 so have decided to repair myself.
On researching the problem on landy zone feel it is quite straight forward to do.
Obviously I need to fetch it back home and wondered am i right in thinking that when the light is amber and if it is the rear section, the ace system will automatically isolate the rear section enabling me to drive the vehicle.

thanks for any advice on this

If the light is amber, you're usually actually good to drive (ish..)

Don't get too worried about the anti roll bars performance etc - be more concerned that if the pump runs dry it can die completely. Top up the fluid and drive carefully home.

PS where did you source a pipe set for that? I want one too!

I dont know about isolating the rear as the manual doesnt say anything about leaky pipes and the effects on the system. But it does say that when the ACE light is amber the vehicle can still be driven. When it turns red dont drive. I am shure some one with a bit more knowlege on the system will be along soon. But if it were me i would get some fluid and make regular stops to check and refill the level until i got it home.
Good luck

Hi, i suppose they wanted to rob u. First of all check the oil level in the reservoir.....if it's not empty refill it and wait a day or two to see if it drops hard or not. If it's a small leak then the level will not drop too much but for this kind of leaking is no warning on dash......the warning comes when its a big leak and then it's not amber ...its red with audible warning too. U can use the car with the amber light on without probs as long as u have fluid in the reservoir. Check RAVE > ACE > Description > Failure modes and u'll know more.

Find a helpfull mate with a scanner and plug it in to make sure befor u spend some money in vane.

Thanks for that David.
Got the pipes by luck really, work in birmingham and have noticed a guy that always seems to be doing bits with discos.Just stopped and asked if he knew where I might get some cheaper. As it turned out he had just broke up a 02 that had gone up in flames. He wanted 100 for rear and 150 for front but offered both for 180.Had a look at them and both sets looked as new as the vehicle had been pro waxoiled.
Snatched his hand off.

Thanks again
