Abs

Hi guys ABS light has been on for a while. but MOT is due in a couple of months, I know this has been discused a thousand times on this forum so can any one put up a link to a site that tells you how to short the small blue plug by the fuse box and the fault codes. Thanks Kindwarf

One quick hit on google found it for me...

This helped me out a great deal, sorted my light has now gone out, well goes out when I drive forward a few feet.

If you do the "Blink" test it will tell you the code so you can fix the problem, it will not knock the ABS light off, i did it on mine and got a 2-12, which is an air gap in front drivers side wheel. In other words knackered sensor. Cheapest i found for a sensor for a 1995 discovery was £62.

Mine was same code just tapped the sensor down and light has never come back on yet.

Did that with mine as well Stevo, it worked for a while then went alltogether. I tested the sensor with a multimeter and it was dead.
The ABS lights still on, ive got to get a new sensor.

Hi again guys my Disco has the small blue plug near the fuse box but Im not too sure what wires to short, does any one have a link to a diagram or some colour codes. Thanks,

On the early models (95 and before) there is a 16 pin socket just above the clutch, the wires you need are pin 4 Black and Pin 15 red/green.
On mine though it wasnt red/green it was Black/Pink.

Models with the 5 pin connector i dont know about.

What year is yours?

Great hope mine not on its way out, the previous owner had changed a brake disc, yes just one no clue why he just did one side. Plus the brake light switch was faulty which I have now fixed, so hopefully no more problems.

Hi first of all I'm sorry to "jump in", but I'm struggling with this blink test too. I've found the procedure, but I can't seem to locate the ABS lamp relay.

On the left hand side underdash there are three relays, 2 yellow base, 1 black none of the wire colours seem to tie in with any of the descriptions.
Under the drivers side there is what looks like an OBD socket, just above the clutch pedal. There's no blue connector near the fuse box.

Funny thing, even though the lights on, when I try the brakes on a loose surface, the ABS appears to be kicking in.

Thats normal, mine does the same, 3 of the wheels work with the abs one doesnt it just skids.

What year is you Landy....

That would be most appreciated, the car is a 1997 300Tdi XS, on a R reg

Yep mine is the same relay as Archies, just pulled it out and shorted the pins and it worked fine for me (just takes a bit of time)

Yes thanks for posting the picture Archie, I was able to locate the green relay 2nd time round.

Turns out my fault was the relay itself, swapped it for one out my big box of Disco spares and all is working now!

Glad it was a simple fix, i know how ABS problems can drive you mad..

You havent said what Landy you have Kindwarf, as i have posted earlier i only know how to do it on a D1 im not sure it can be done on a D2.

What year is it? what model. can you take a pic of the blue plug?

I have a Disco 1 1995 300 tdI ES pre OBD plug just the small 5 pin blue plug on a length of cable coiled up in the fuse box under the stearing column

Oh mine is a d1 1995 ES, but mine has the OBD socket, must be after the change over mine.

Exactly the same as mine Steve, wonder if the blink test can be done on a pre OBD socket?
