abs, traction control light on. help!!!!

hi guys

so took my p38 on her first journey yesterday and 5 mins on the road the abs and traction control lights came on and haven't gone off.
ive also got an abs fault and traction control fault on message screen when you turn car off.

prior to this 2 weeks ago I took the rear wheels off to swap for another set, but they were stuck to the hub and had a right job to get the drivers side one off, had to leather it from side to side with the biggest mallet I own.passenger side not as bad but still took a mallet to get off. this journey was the first since that. I now have 4 new wheels and tyres on copper greased so no danger of this happening again.

my question is could I have moved/damaged the abs sensor on the rear hubs?
could I just have disturbed the sensor and a diagnostic check/reset get rid off the fault?

I've searched on here for any related faults and although there's loads of info I am not sure which is the best starting point?

Check to make sure the sensors are seated correctly would be the first check, then ensure you have a good, strong battery and the Alternator is banging out around 14.2V at 2K RPM......with low volts the first systems to suffer are the ABS/TC and Gearbox!

Check fluid level....

Then jack up and give the wheels a wobble to see if there is any play in the bearings/hubs.

If they all check out, get it on diagnostics!

Update after checking out drivers side front and rear sensors and everything that saintv8 suggested, all looks ok will do other side later on, one thing I did notice though is the brake pads on the rear are really thin could this cause the issue???

Another update just started her up to turn her around and hey presto no lights, so took her for a drive and after 5 mins lights came back on??

Battery is showing 14.0v when running.

Could be your wiggling of the sensors andetc could have seated them correctly, they can be fussy!!

Either that or a weak battery on a cold morning caused the issue and now it has warmed slightly you are getting a better voltage!

14V at idle is not to shabby, get an able assistant to rev up to 2K and hold it there while you check output....14V to 14.4V is a good egg!

Is the handbrake light also on? That happens if the breaks have insufficient pressure - see brake accumulator/pump

Accumulator should it come on at start up and how.long for?? In other words how can you tell if its on way out?

The Accumlator stores hydraulic pressure and sits on top of the boot pump....next to the expansion tank.

The pump runs at start up to charge the accumulator, the should then only run every 4-6 pedal pushes, if the pump runs after 3 it is getting tired, if it runs after each push the accumulator is fecked!

I believe the Handbrake warning lamp is also the brake pad warning lamp (if fitted)

Not aware that there is any brake pad warning fitted on UK P38's.

So just checked my battery at 2000 revs and ive only got 13.9 volts is this a problem could it be the cause??

That was the voltage on early P38's, for modern batteries you need 14.2 volts or more to fully charge the battery. short runs with that output will lead to a low/flat battery, get a charger, a cheap Aldi one would do, and leave it on charge when not in use.
What voltage do have on the battery after it has stood overnight before you start the engine?

Voltage before start up was 13.2v. I've left it on charge in the garage overnight gonna have a proper look at it today!!

If the voltage before start up was 13.2 volts, you have a problem with your meter, you should expect 12.5 to 12.8 volts after it's stood overnight unless you have some special kind of battery.
