Hi folks. I've done some research into this already and found a couple of other posts on the forums, but I wanted to start my own because I don't want to jump to conclusions - I'm a real land rover newbie!

The ABS and TC light used to come on sporadically, there didn't seem to be an easy pattern - sometimes when crawling along in traffic, sometimes when driving at 70 on the motorway. Very occasionally I would just get the ABS light. Now, the HDC light is on, and all lights seem to come on when I start the car, and don't go out either.

I've not noticed diminished performance in the brakes - the car still stops thank goodness! Also, the HDC light doesn't seem to affect the driving of the car either, and obviously I did check, the HDC button isn't pushed in :p

So is this likely to be a dodgy set of sensors? I'm not entirely sure what the light indicates - I would assume the ECU is checking the ABS sensors are reporting something back, and if not it turns up as a ABS warning. Without ABS I guess TC cannot work? I've no idea about HDC though.

Most importantly, how dangerous for the car is it that these lights are on? It still stops, and I've just spent a bloody fortune on a head gasket, fuel pressure regulator, rear crossmember, lights and new fuel cooler - if I can safely "get away with it", erm I'm pretty tempted to leave it! Cheers.

My guess - One of your front hub/wheel bearings sounds shot.
Have you had the fault codes read?

you can get away with most things - safely on the other hand is a different story.

Jack each front wheel up separately hold the wheel at 3 and 9 oclock position and move back and forth up and down, doesnt always show play in the wheel bearing but sometimes a good indicator

That problem is more complicated than it appears
1. which HDC light is on the amber or green?
2. did you see the ABS light coming on alone while driving? ...or just staying on after the self test then go out?
3. in some cases the TC works in some it doesnt, so does the ABS depends on the default mode which is induced buy the fault code
get it plugged in a read the codes
