yes when i was last at the garage with the car on machine after i fitted 2 sensors i was driving while he was using machine and he showed me them all working.. its the fact the lights do go out which to me indicates things are working upto a point

Points to wheel sensors, rings and poss brearings. When you switch on the system re sets to OK, then when you are driving along it is detecting a wheel speed error?

being out testing sensors today again and again as since its intermittant im never going to find it unless testing

took me 18 ignition turn on's today before the lights would go out while lights were on tho testes sensors all reading ok tested sensors at the ECU all ok

why would a wheel bearing cause this ( i dnt no hence asking) as theres no play no noise its not like it has a abs pick up in them like other cars

You said lights stayed out for first mile or so? RE wheel bearings, if there is play in them this will up set sensors.

yes once the lights go out i can travel a mile give or take .1 of a mile today i no this might be nonsense im just putting down everything that happens and when... there is no play in wheel bearings tho there all sound as i tested them when i had the wheels off checking each corner

Does your garage have LR trained blokes? May be best to take it to an LR inde in your neck of the woods.

Fecking Freelanders:mad:

i believe so he has being about for at least 8 years its all he works on day in day out...

after doing some more looking about today i found that there is a Speed Sensor on the Gearbox C195 connector on rave

this connector was loose.. is this sensor for the Speedo cluster or could it explain a few things.. i did nip it up while i was at it

My knowledge has run out but knowing how connected everything is, this certainly cant hurt the cause!

i have just run the wife to the gym lights were on 5 igitions on off later i have done 3 miles with all lights turned out

im just praying to god that its sorted if i save £50 at the garage tomorrow the wife says i can use it to buy my roof rails lol

being a while since i comment on this thread i still have intermittent lights on my freelander but have being getting closer to finding the fault

i have now replaced all 4 Abs sensors and 4 ABS rings this means now when driving the lights will stay on until i go over a pothole/bump or a steepish hill....

after having some problems latly not being able to go bk to the garage again as there charging £46 a go

Hi
I have read this forum post avidly and I have a similar problem
- The 3 amigos.
I replaced 2 ABS sensors on the drivers side as i found they were faulty and not giving me any resistance. well one was not giving a reading the other I replaced as the wires were worn and bare..(rubbing on something..!)

my problem now is that on start up, my HDC goes off but the TC and ABS lights stay on.
after I get upto 5mph or above the HDC then comes on as well.

can anyone think why this is.?

I love the car but what a pain in the ass it is. one thing after another...

Ur telling me I aid 1k and spent almost that since January when I bought it if ur based near me I would put my hawkeye on for you but not many people near me lol

Even tho I have a freelander I did a discovery and hummer rear to my bs pump
When I got car not a single bit of abs worked and took replacing everything from the rings to the abs pump and abs ecu to cure mine

Please note tho there are some faults that do need the codes clearing like shuttle vales once I did the repair the lights were still on until I cleared them on the hawkeye diagnostic tool

Have you checked all the abs rings all the sensors what is a good thing to do is test the resistance of the sensor in each wheel arch then put the wiring bk together and test the same sensor again at the ecu this should give u the same reading if it does at least the wiring from the sensor to the ecu is ok aswell

Got to be and ABS sensors......Ive been chasing my arse all week, with the 3 Amigo Bastards, seems it was the front ABS sensors/sensor, pulled them out cleaned them, cleanded out the hub holes??? cleaned the pads calipers and discs while I was in there, and re3luctor rings as best I could.......refitted them using a lot less copper grease, and so far so good.........

No doubt tomorrow they will show there bastard heads again...........just as long as they stay away at MOT time I will be happy
