Having endured months of pain ( now happily gone) due to a faulty ABS Pressure switch I decided to open it up to see what was in there.( I opened it with a hacksaw.)
I may be wrong but I don't see that these can be recondirioned : someone will no doubt put me right on that one.
I just post the pic for general info.

Did you replace it? What was your problem?

My pump wouldn't run : no power assisted braking : ABS & Brake lights on constantly.
I rigged up a manual button which let me run the pump when the lights came on. A pain but it worked.
Bought a 2nd hand switch : it didn't work but I assumed that the fault must lie elsewhere and spent weeks on examining the wiring, fuse box and ECU : it's a long story but now all working at a total cost of £35.
 
just replaced mine,just the switch= £238 + vat at dealers, complete tested unit- pump, switch and accumulator £250 on ebay

I bought a complete unit from a scrapper just to examine the whole set up. Turned out ( eventually ) that the pressure switch from the scrapper was in full working order ! The pump is also a runner !Total cost of the ABS fix = £35 and months of time.

It would be interesting to see whats on the other side of the flexible printed circuit shown in your picture. Given the means of access, it's pretty unlikely that it could be repaired.:( Might be possible to make a copy using external components though:D

With the pressures involved i would think some sort of strain gauge type sensors and a little circuit to interpret their readings. How that can cost £200.00 plus is something know only to Land Rover.

I'll see if I can open up the whole switch so we see what's happening. My gut feeling is that this is seriously over engineered but I'm not qualified to express a view on that.
 
Hi,

I know this post is old. But just to close the matter, I have been able to source the proper ABS switch for the P38/RRC.

I'm currently letting go of them for $200 ea.

I had never seen a new one until I got my hands on these.

Your rover deserves it. So if you;re reading this....

I hope to have these available online in the near future, but until then call, text, or email me.
