ABS fault

Hi i have a m reg 300 tdi disco and the ABS light is on ive done the paper clip trick to do the flash test and all i get is fault code 2:1. 2 flashes and then 1 flash can any one tell me what this is please thank you in advance

I have code 2:1 as internal ecu failure:replace ecu so not a good code I'm afraid.

Hi thanks for the reply i found this also on the web to day. been and got a s/h ecu and same fault code comes up and i can not delete it any ideas?

Hmm, that goes beyond my knowledge then, most troubles are just duff sensors etc. Can't see why it won't clear even if it just comes straight back on the next start.

Odd.

Find another chart or testbook it....and thats not a good answer either - sorry

Ah a fellow cornish man i am in St Austell. think it might have to go on test book much to my disapointment as i would of liked to sort it out my self. cheers for all your help.

might be worth,checking wheel brgs, removing sensors ,cleaning reluctor ring with air if you got it and replacing making sure fully home

As James says,as ever ! Well worth checking the wiring to the sensor,making sure they really ARE all the way home and cleaning the disc.....it can cure a multitude of supposed faults.Do I remember rightly that they are behind the mud shield plate? If so,a whole lot of crap can get held there,so well worth cleaning that out anyway.
The instructions I had were to push them all the way til they contact the disc,then they settle themselves at the correct gap.

Worth checking too is the pedal brake light switch,I have known that throw up spurious fault codes about the ecu. I dont know what they are to buy now,I payed £12 for the last one some years ago,others I have had out of scrap cars for nothing.May be worth checking if Rovers of the same age use the same switch,I know a lot of the dash switches are common to LR/RR ones.I had one where the pedal switch had been partially knocked out of its mount - putting back in place solved the problem.
