An ABS problem with my 1993 Range Rover LSE ( County) following a quick getaway at a slippery junction the other week.
  • Traction control and ABS warning light on at ignition:(
  • Brakes are working as normal.
  • Front left hand sensor was found to be split on one edge causing fault. No sign of copper ring being broken or deformed, wheel rotates freely.Replaced with good sensor fitted per workshop manual instructions.
  • At ignition on position traction control light now extinguishes as it should. ABS light remains on - as it should.
  • On driving traction control light comes back on along with ABS warning light
  • Followed flash code read procedure. Comes up with code 2-9 (not known on any list I can find)
  • Followed flash code clear procedure - appears not to clear:confused:
  • Local garage has tried connecting Rovacom light abs module to check codes, but no comms. (same happens when tried with another LSE in the yard)
Has anyone come across this strange code before?
Does the abs ecu store an infinite number of errors (I may be out there with a jumper wire for hours)

Any pointers much appreciated as vehicle is due DOT test this week and I am at my wits end.

A quick note to round of this post.

Replacement sensor wasn't seated correctly therefore no signal back to ecu. The reason it wasn't seating was the top swivel bearing and washers had been mashed and were blocking the bottom of the sensor holder. Now I don't know if this had happened over a period of time of was a sudden failure.
All bits fished out with magnet, screwdriver etc. Fitted top swivel kit and re- shimmed.
ABS system now goes though its checks and light extinguishes as it should.

The 2-9 fault code. Believe it or not when the "pin out" method of code reading is carried out ITS STILL THERE !! But who cares !

Air suspension block "o" rings next................

Its why we love em!

Im having a "not quite but" similar problem,
On checking abs fault codes i get 2-12 which i know is OSF air gap, ive removed the sensor and cleaned up the surface rust and crap in the sensor housing but the sensor now wont go back in the hole, the haynes manual i have tells me squat as im the kind of guy that needs pictures on how to do anything,

Any help would be great,

Ross
