My mechanic removed battery to work on steering pump and rack, when he refitted it he is getting ABS Control Module not communicating error? Any ideas please - batery removal and refit surely surely shouldn’t cause this!!!

Thank you.

Removing the battery in normal circumstances won't upset the ABS module. I've heard of cases where disconnecting the battery when the vehicle is still awake can cause various strange issues. To be safe from this, the vehicle should be left for at least 30 minutes with the key out of the dock and the doors closed before the battery is disconnected.
Maybe the waiting time wasn't allowed for, so something has been corrupted in the ABS module. Unfortunately the ABS module is coded to the vehicle, so if it's failed, a brand new replacement is needed, which needs to be configured using JLR SDD.

Thanks for your reply and thoughts. I had come to the same conclusion after reading various manuals etc! Checked with hom and suggested he reset the whole system, which he did and all is now well!
