P38 with a brake problem - well it would appear that way accumulator pump runs on every pedal depression and also if the brake pedal is kept depressed could this be due to the nitrogen pressure in the Accumulator being too low? cant see how but open to suggestions also TC and ABS failure lights come on every now and then have checked sensors etc all seem fine - what draws me to the Acc is the fact the pump is running so much
Any help welcome

Sounds like a reasonable assumption. It should take around 30 depressions to take all pressure out of system with ignition off. I don't think depressing brake once should make pump run. Likewise keeping pedal depressed should not cause pump to run. Sounds as though you need a new accumulator. Others may have a different view though.

Hello friend.. I have the same problem as you.. but my ABS light is on all the time..well it went off for a day.. but soon came back... any way replaced my accumaltor this very day!!!................. and its just the same!!!!! fantastic... thats another 100 quid down the tubes..... mind you im not sure if it all need bleeding after??? but i never lost any braske fluid?? so im not sure... stuart

For sure. The Nitrogen is seperated from the fluid by a diaphram, if this faisl the gas will not hold any pressure, hence the pump keeps running.

Stux, did you get the fault codes read before lashing out your cash ?

Hi rewmer... no mate i didn't.. down here in south east Cornwall they ( all the local specialists ) want way to much money to plug the car in .. one.. and i wont mention their name want 49 quid plus vat plus half an hour plus vat ...of his time to plug it in!!! and the others aint far behind him... so i wanted to do as much as i can myself and went the lgical way... i did post the problem on here.. but no takers... but thats ok .. the forum has saved me loads in the past.. and im very grateful.. so hopefully sandyt will get a bit of luck and we can both benifit.. many thanks stuart
