Hi there I am a total newbie to landrovers - however we have decided that we would like a freelander TD4 and we have a budget of about £3500. I've been searching for what we can get for this price and it seems to be about an 02/03 plate with mileage of about 70-90k or the odd 04 plate facelift model does seem to come up with a higher mileage.

One of the things I wondered was did the 03/04 facelift model have any advantages over the older style other than cosmetic? Ie would I be better off buying a newer but higher mileage facelift model than an older style, older aged car with lower mileage? I do low mileage about 5k a year so if I got a higher mileage car I could bring the mileage down about over a couple of years. Is there any other advice you can give me over what to look for?

Thanks in advance

Optimus Prime thank you for your constructive response. I didn't 'introduce myself' as I don't have a landrover and I'm sure my life story would not be of much interest. However once I DO have one maybe I will become a regular poster rather than just wanting 'buying advice'. I came on here hoping to get friendly advice from people in the know!

'Owner or not' ... the intro will pay you dividends.

Would you walk up to a mechanic you never met, and start asking questions without introducing yourself?

why can't you just follow the protocol we did when we joined and then ask in a manner that will get you what you want to know?

Pathetic!

No Lad.. YOU are the Pathetic effort of a human being here... twice at least, you were gently guided to introduce yourself, and twice you chose to ignore it.

Well obviously you're wayyyy to important for us scumbags to be dignified by an introduction, so please.. follow youre instincts and sod off somplace more befitting of your 'superior status'
