A third hole!

I recently had occasion to change a reverse light bulb in my P38 and on doing so I noted (on both sides as I was inquisitive) that there was a third bulb hole between the reverse and fog light bulbs. It is marked for a 5w bulb so would imply it is for another tail/side light. I put a couple in and no matter what I switched on lights wise they wouldn't light up.

Anyone know what that bulb position is for or would it have to be activated on the BECM depending on where the car is used?

It would be handy if it was an extra tail light as for a big car they do have relatively poor tail lights as standard with one each side.

At the risk of setting Tomcat59alan off (just realised he's on holiday - so safe), as there's a 'third hole' - are all Range Rovers female - like ships?

Indubitably. Titanic. Marie Celeste. Penlee lifeboat. Costa Concordia.

This started me thinking, some people name their cars (not something I've ever done) - usually female names - although one of my daughters always calls her cars male names.

If any RR owners will admit to naming them, what are the names?

Is there a Roland, a Doris, a Walter, Brian, Petula, Derek, Boris, or - God Forbid - a Kylie???

A friend had a TVR called Kylie, nice arse, unpredictable.

And I have referred to mine as "Her Ladyship" because she can be very demanding...
