Hey all,

just been out for a cheeky little laning session near Wolsingham in Co. Durham, and thought I should put this up to get peoples' opinions... A little way down the track (probably half way) I came across this:

Now, the walls of the ruts were probably about a foot deep to the water, and maybe another 6 inches to the soft mud beneath the water. Where there was no water, the mud had a thin thin layer of crust on top and underneath was incredibly soft... deeper than I wanted to poke my finger for fear of losing it!

It's obvious that people have been using the route and going around the sides instead of through the middle, which as far as I'm aware is illegal on a byway like this? I turned around and went back the way I went in, rather than risk rutting it up further...

Is there something I should do? Other than avoid driving it and making it worse, obviously. I wouldn't necessarily like to see a TRO on it, because the rest of the track is 100% fine. Any advice?

Anyway the rest of the drive was loverly... Absolutely fallen head over heels with me new 90 now :D here's a few more pics
