I've been assisting a UK based charity to buy 'decent' Landies (mostly ex-mod 90/110) to send to Malawi, where they are setting up a rental business that the locals will run, renting out all sorts of vehicles and plant etc.

They are looking for someone to go out there for 3 months to help with the Landies. I posted this info on Landyzone, a while back when they were looking for a volunteer - but now it is a Paid position! I'd go myself, but my family need me at home.

I hear that the off-roading in Malawi during rainy season is awesome!

Here is an extract from an email they sent me - if you are interested contact George Furnival (details below)

I am just writing about our need for a Land Rover mechanic in Malawi. Over the past six months we have attempted to recruit on a volunteer basis, but no luck so far. We are now looking at offering a three month job at £1000 per month, they will be carrying out work on vehicles themselves but more importantly offering training to Derek our Malawian mechanic, he's good at his job, but would benefit from expert input from a real Land Rover expert. I am wondering if you know of anyone who may like to take the opportunity? The start date is asap, we are offering flights, insurance, accommodation, and full board in our beautiful volunteers village. If you could help me spread the word I would be so grateful.
Many thanks
George--

bugger, gf daughter 2 -otherwise I'd do it

NVQ3 MOTOR VEHICLE AS WELL:doh:

I'd love to do something like this, but my experience is no where near what is needed.

plus I'd miss my dog too much.

good luck with finding someone

I'll agree you want someone who is trained, but don't want to pay what they would earn, further to this anyone old enough and experienced enough will have commitments.

Try
£2000 month, free travel, free board and free food.

Otherwise you won't get a good quality person

i would do it for good food and wine (i'll miss the women round there) but at the moment i have a overdo baby, and bills to pay!

So nobody fancy going to a third world dump for 1/4 of a year-there's a surprise

Grand a month..tax free..plus opportunity of a lifetime to see Africa...

Not sure why folks expect more money than that..its not a 9-5 in
West Bromwich we're talking about here..
Id be there like a ferret down a rabbit hole if i knew what i was doing like ya said opportunity of a lifetime
