Not sure if this has been covered before but as we all pootle around the country waving to other landy's there is often that little squirly pigtail fixture adorning various locations and in bright colours on the vehicles.

So how about we send out to the masses the idea of channel 16 as a 4x4 channel in the same way as truckers use 19.

We can tune in to 4x4 chat whilst on the motorways and A roads and offer help and advice in case a brake light isn't working.

Or just listen to the banter over the rhythmic hum of that knackered wheel bearing.

You got 40 channels to pick from, and there is no such thing as a 'dedicated channel' for anyone!

Basically, the CB is a public two-way communications service, and anyone can legally use any channel for their radio traffic.

Great idea wish I'd thought of it  :p :D :D :D

And 19 is traditionally the 'contact' channel. What's wrong with using that? It could just as easily be a trucker telling you about a diffy brake light :)

i always have mine scanning and I never hear anyone :(

Fair points.

There are few enough folk on CB these days anyway. BUT

I still think a Landy channel has merit instead of trying to find out what channel folks are going to be using.

For example

I'm running late,
Everyone else is at the P & P I don't have anyones number and or my phone battery is dead/been dropped in a large puddle  :D :D :D

Or even as basic as passing a fellow landy owner on the motorway and tune to 16 to say hello.

Ok so dedicated as in everyone knows what channel it is rather than nobody else can use it expect 4x4s.

see I think this is a great idea- :) plus I didn't know 19 was a generally recognised contact channel- how you meant to know that sort of thing anyway ?

You have to be very old and remember when CBs were popular (and illegal) like me

It is a good idea though :D

19 for a rig check and on the side lol

I remember years ago pushing 300 plus watts with a legal limit of 4 watts lol and a 4 element beam in use on hills with sideband

cough never met the orricers when you needed a cb licence aka tax

Again you would have to be old to remember :p:p:p

People used to sit in their cars on the top of the moors and try to talk to America, god knows why they wanted to :D
